May 2026Gonzalez Shah Smith provided MEP/FP engineering and commissioning services for the Centralized Operational Reliability and Efficiency (CORE) Building and campus infrastructure upgrades at Texas A&M University-Central Texas.
The CORE Building brings together a central utility plant, the University Police Department, an emergency operations center, training space, offices, and conditioned warehouse and receiving areas. The facility supports both day-to-day campus operations and critical emergency response functions within a centralized location.
A key component of the project is a centralized utility loop connecting existing campus facilities while providing capacity for future development. The system includes chilled water, electrical, and fiber optic infrastructure, with the central utility plant providing additional capacity and redundancy as the campus grows.
Designed to improve energy efficiency, resiliency, and operational reliability while reducing long-term operating costs, the CORE project provides essential infrastructure to support the continued growth of the Texas A&M University-Central Texas campus.
