Project Overview

Gonzalez Shah Smith provided MEP/FP engineering and commissioning services for the renovation of the fourth floor of Heldenfels Hall at Texas A&M University.

The 19,567-square-foot project modernized instructional laboratory space for the Department of Biology, including seven Anatomy and Physiology labs, five flexible wet labs, and a dedicated help desk area to support student learning. The renovated floor also includes research-focused instructional spaces and enhanced access to models, specimens, and advanced learning tools.

The improvements expand capacity for one of Texas A&M's largest life sciences teaching programs, serving more than 2,000 students each week. The renovated laboratories support anatomy and physiology instruction, undergraduate research, and hands-on learning while helping address growing demand for laboratory space across biology and other health-related programs.

The project represents a significant investment in biology education at Texas A&M, creating updated spaces that support student success, research opportunities, and the continued growth of life sciences programs on campus.
