September 2025Gonzalez Shah Smith provided MEP/FP engineering and commissioning services for the STEM Education and Research Center at Texas A&M-RELLIS.
The 60,000-square-foot facility brings together students, researchers, and industry partners in a collaborative environment focused on applied research, innovation, and workforce development. The center supports students from across the RELLIS Academic Alliance and provides space for interdisciplinary work in engineering, advanced energy, digital technologies, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other emerging fields.
A major feature of the building is its makerspace and exploratorium, which provides hands-on fabrication and prototyping capabilities. The facility includes machine and wood shops, 3D printing, laser cutting, electronics workstations, virtual reality and visualization spaces, classrooms, offices, and flexible collaboration areas that support student projects, research, and industry partnerships.
Designed as a systemwide hub for STEM education and research, the center creates opportunities for students to work alongside faculty, researchers, and industry partners while supporting the continued growth of applied research and technology development at RELLIS.
