Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering

GSS delivers integrated MEP/FP engineering for new construction, renovations, and complex facility improvements across Texas. We coordinate every building system from concept through construction administration.

WHAT IS MEP/FP ENGINEERING

The Systems That Make Buildings Work

MEP/FP engineering encompasses the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems that make a building function — how it is heated and cooled, powered and illuminated, how water is delivered and removed, and how occupants are protected in an emergency. These systems are interdependent: decisions made in one discipline directly affect the others. Effective MEP/FP engineering requires coordinated design across all four disciplines from the earliest stages of a project.

At GSS, our licensed engineers work as a single integrated team — not as separate consultants — so coordination happens in-house, conflicts are resolved early, and the final design reflects a unified engineering strategy.

HVAC & Thermal Systems

Our mechanical engineers design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems tailored to each facility's occupancy type, climate requirements, and energy goals. We perform load calculations, equipment selection, duct and piping layout, and energy analysis to deliver systems that perform efficiently and reliably over the life of the building.

Power, Lighting & Distribution

GSS electrical engineers design power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems for facilities ranging from academic buildings to healthcare campuses. We coordinate with utility providers, size service entrances and switchgear, design branch circuit layouts, and develop lighting systems that meet code requirements and owner performance goals.

Domestic Water, Storm, Medical Gas & Sanitary Systems

Our plumbing engineers design domestic water supply, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, and specialty medical systems, including medical gas and laboratory distribution, serving a wide range of facility types. We perform hydraulic analysis to ensure adequate flow and pressure, coordinate with civil and structural engineers on below-grade systems, and design systems that meet applicable plumbing codes.

Fire Protection System

GSS provides fire protection engineering for facilities across Texas. Our engineers design automatic fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems and provide guidance on special hazard suppression systems to help ensure facilities are safe and code-compliant. We work closely with the project team to integrate fire protection and MEP systems with architectural and structural elements.

OUR APPROACH

Integrated Engineering from Day One

The most effective MEP/FP engineering happens when all four disciplines are coordinated from the start. At GSS, our mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineers work together with the owner, design team, and contractor throughout design. They share information, resolve conflicts early, and produce a coordinated set of construction documents that reflect a single, unified engineering strategy.

Single point of contact for all MEP/FP disciplines
In-house coordination reduces RFIs and change orders
Consistent design standards across all systems
Streamlined communication with architects and owners
Coordinated specifications and equipment schedules
