Gonzalez Shah Smith, Inc. (GSS) provided Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing design services for a 12,000 square foot Infrastructure Research Laboratory at Texas State University’s Star Park Campus. This facility is a high bay structure that will allow Texas State University’s Structural Engineering faculty to perform structural testing on various specimens.
The project comprised of designing a mechanical system which included DX rooftop equipment to temper the high bay space, ventilation fans, exhaust fans and BAS controls. A process chilled water system is provided to reject heat from the hydraulic pump system that will be utilized during the testing of the specimens. The electrical system design accounts for current and future electrical demand.
Facility is provided with a generator connection point to allow the building to be fully backed up with a temporary generator. The plumbing system design includes compressed air, water softener, domestic hot and cold water.
GSS was involved an initial effort to help the owner create supporting documentation for their application regarding the EDA CARES grant.
